STRATCOM / OFFUTT VIGIL

Each year, the Des Moines and Omaha Catholic Worker Communities hold a vigil at the gates of Offutt Air Force Base, in Bellevue, NE, home of the Strategic Nuclear (StratCom) and the US Military Space Commands.  The vigil mourns the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan, on August 6 and 9, 1945, and protest the threat of future such atrocities through the mission and work of the Offutt Command.

This vigils begin August 6th at 8 a.m., the hour the USA dropped the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima, and end August 9th at 11 a.m., the hour the USA dropped the second atomic bomb on Nagasaki.
